YEAR OF CLIMATE AND ENVIRONMENT POZNAŃ 2008

Exhibition: Environment protection in land management plans for Poznań and the Wielkopolska region

The aim of the exhibition, organized in connection to the "Year of Climate and Environment, Poznań 2008" Environment protectionand the United Nations Climate Change Conference: Poznań 2008, is to popularize the results of research and projects concerning the natural environment of Wielkopolska and the area of Poznań.
Confronting the outcome of works carried out in various types of institutions in a common space raises the awareness of the range of problems related to environment protection and landscape modeling as well as serving educational purposes. The subject matter of the exhibition are analyses related to land management design in Poznań and Wielkopolska region. Plans made in the Wielkopolska Spatial Planning Office and the Town Planning Office as well as results obtained from underlying research carried out by workers of the UAM Botanical Garden were chosen for our presentation. The natural environment and natural structure of the Wielkopolska region, as well as green rings of the Poznań Metropolitan Area are presented on regional plans on a hypsometric background. Some of the other documents presented are local land management plans for territories which are part of the circular - wedge layout of Poznań greenery, situated mostly along Warta river. The exhibition also presents the ideas of students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań in the field of cultural landscape programming. They show how the presented local plans can be implemented by arranging areas in the Warta valley and Citadel Park as well as by designing a Garden of the Senses and a Japanese Garden in the UAM Botanical Garden.
